Make sure that all screws and notches are properly detached/removed. f.Reinstall video card. Make sure that all screws and notches are properly connected. g.Close CPU box. h.Start computer and hopefully error is fixed.

3. Primary hard drive missing error. Symptoms: a.Computer will POST but stop because there is no primary hard drive where operating system is installed. Solution: a.Turn off the computer. b.Unplug power cord. c.Open CPU side panel. d.Locate hard drive. e.Remove IDE/SATA cable. f.Re-attached IDE/SATA cable. g.Remove its power supply. h.Re-attach its power supply. i.Close CPU box. j.Start computer and hopefully error is fixed.

4. CPU error. Symptoms: a. CPU box is making continuous hi-lo beeps b. No display c. No POST.

Problem causes: a.CPU is overheating. b.CPU fan is clogged by dust. c.CPU fan has stopped or defective.

Solution: a.Turn off the computer. b.Unplug power cord. c.Open CPU side panel. d.Locate CPU. e.Remove CPU heat sink and fan. Inspect the CPU for any sign of burnt. f.Clean CPU heat sink. Make sure to remove all dusts sticking to the heat sink. g.Clean CPU fan. h.Re-seat or reinstall the heat sink

Gm’s Robot Commercial Depicts Suicide According To Nami

General Motors robot commercial which was aired during the Super Bowl has aroused various reactions from the audience and most of them were not very happy with what they have seen. According to the Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Community the commercial encourages suicide.

After General Motors controversial ad, the company has been bombarded by complaints. But according to the worlds largest automaker and maker of the popular GM Nerf Bars, everything is under control and as a matter of fact – they are also planning to air the same commercial again for the Academy Awards on February 25.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness or NAMI, the nations largest organization that focus on serious mental illnesses, depression and obsessive-compulsive disorders has expressed their disappointment with General Motors through their Executive Director Michael Fitzpatrick, who commented, The GM commercial is recklessly irresponsible. How many national organizations does it take to change their minds?

It should be noted that it was not only the robot commercial of General Motors that was considered offensive during the Super Bowl. Even the ad of Mars, Inc. for its Snickers candy bars has also provoked negative reactions from the crowd especially from the gay community. But unlike GM, Mars, Inc. has decided to stop their Super Bowl ad for fear of further offending the public.

Fitzpatrick explained that the traditional marginalization of mental health concerns is rooted in stigma and discrimination. General Motors robot ad that reportedly suggests suicide may encourage some very depressed individuals to commit suicide. Suicide kills. Depression kills. Obsessive-compulsive disorder can kill. But GM sees those kinds of concerns simply as cute, advertising gimmick. What does it say about the companys concern for public health?

In the ad, the robot that was working for GM drops a bolt on the assembly line and was fired because the automakers obsession for quality. The robot search for other jobs but unfortunately got fired again. Due to extreme depression the robot decides to end his life by jumping off the bridge.

The tragic concept of the ads has alerted NAMI to take the necessary step in informing General Motors of the horrible impact it might have on emotionally disturbed individuals who may see that commercial. NAMI has warned GM that the depictions of suicide in mass media in the past have been proven to increase the risk of suicide contagion, clinical term for copy cat suicides.

NAMI also added that the robot ad may increase suicide cases in the country brought about by the fact that there are a high number of unemployed individuals in the country right now. And unfortunately General Motors with its restructuring program has caused many employees to lose their jobs. The ad will be like adding insult to injury.

Descriptive Programming In Qtp – Part 1

In this series of post, we’ll learn about Descriptive programming (DP).

There are two ways, QTP uses to recognize the objects present in your application.

1. Object Repository (OR)
2. Descriptive Programming (DP)

First let see how OR works. OR is the simple and default way of object identification in QTP. OR stores groups of properties and values of every object. While you record on application, all the objects you click, are stored in Object Repository.

During the play back QTP use this OR to identify the object on which the action is to be performed.

What is Descriptive programming (DP)?

We’ll use DP when we want to bypass OR. Descriptive programming is used when we want to perform an operation on an object that is not stored in the object repository. This way QTP wont search for the object properties in the OR, but will take it from the DP statement.

Why use Descriptive programming (DP)?

Everything looks fine while automating test using OR then why should I use DP?

Well, there might be many valid reason to do so. Think about a situation – you want to close all opened browser automatically before you start executing your script. Here OR will not help you to identify an object as it is not possible to store all the opened browser objects into OR. Make sense?

No worries! We’ll discuss the need and benefits of DP in detail later in this post. Well examine scenarios where ORs advantages are outweighed by the DP.

I am not very good in vbscript. Is it mandetory to learn vbscript explicitly to write DP?

No. Not at all! Its not mandetory, but yeah.. recommended. For basic opretions and starting with DP, this post will guide you.
Although, for advanced oprations i.e. using COM, AOM, complex framworks etc. vbscript knowledge is the key.

Writing Descriptive Programming (DP):

DP can be written in two ways..

1. Static (by provide the set of properties and values directly)
2. Dynamic (by creating description object)

Static:

– In Static method of DP, we provide the set of properties and values directly in a single line, in form of the string arguments.

Here is the format/syntax of DP..
object’s Class Name(“property name:=property value)
Exmp 1: webbutton(Name:=Google Search)

object’s Class Name = webbutton
property name = Name
property value = Google Search

Exmp 2:- Browser(google).page(google).webbutton(name:=Google Search,type:= Submit).click

In above statement, Browser(google) and page(google) are written using OR. And webbutton(name:=Google Search,type:= Submit) is written using DP. Please note that we can write multiple set of properties and values in any DP statement.
